As women age, particularly after childbirth, they might become dissatisfied with the functioning and aesthetics of their vagina.
Just like the rest of the body, the vagina can experience the atrophy of aging.
Vaginal rejuvenation is a laser treatment that reverses this. It uses CO2 Lasers to “tighten” the vaginal area, restoring a more youthful look, increasing pleasure during sex via increased friction, and possibly restoring function in other aspects such as urinary capabilities.
How Does It Work?
Vaginal rejuvenation technologies like FemiLift work somewhat similarly to skin rejuvenation techniques. A probe is placed into the vagina which lets out energy pulses that affect the collagen layer. The heating shrinks the collagen and elastin, but also stimulates collagen and elastin production.
The result? The vaginal mucosa takes on a new shape, with aforementioned restored functionality.
Difference Between Vaginal Rejuvenation and Vaginnoplasties
Vaginal rejuvenation can refer, in general, to any class of procedures that attempt to restore function and aesthetics to the vagina. These procedures can be surgical and nonsurgical.
In fact, vaginoplasties may be more well known than vaginal lasering due to being an older procedure.
Vaginal lasering procedures are best for women who want to undo mild to moderate vaginal atrophy. Moderate symptoms may still include decreased sexual pleasure and slight urinary incontinence.
The entire treatment process usually take around 3 months, with multiple treatments (usually 3) spread over the course of that time. It is a gentler (and cheaper) process for women not sure if they want to go the full surgical route, and can in fact be a worthwhile interim procedure for women who are considering having another child.
Interested in the procedure but not sure if it’s right for you? It’s important to know the facts.
